This is the third and final book in the historical fiction series about three generations of east Tennesseans to serve in the US Signal Corps in the Philippines during the period of American colonization of the country. The first book concerned Eugene Onks during the time of the Philippines American War. The second told the story of his son, Pete Onks during the time of WWI and the Spanish flu. This book tells of the experiences of Eugene's grandson, Claude Onks from 1940-1945...WWII.Like all historical fiction books it contains the smaller story, the more intimate story of the fictional character, Claude Onks within the larger, big story of the history of World War II in the Philippines. It tells of how a young, American man began to live his lifelong dream only to see it turn into the nightmare which was World War II.
